Rash driving cause accidents

Karachi, a metropolitan city in Pakistan, has an inadequate transport infrastructure. The dreadful accidents are heart-wrenching to see on the roads.

The reasons are reckless driving and over-speeding. Most of our young generation are allowed by their parents to drive freely and are not restricted; therefore, they enjoy over-speeding whenever they see a road with less traffic; they are unafraid of getting killed. Such incidents happen due to the lack of awareness and knowledge of road safety.

Not abiding by traffic rules plays another key role in increasing road accidents. Motorcyclists and rickshaw drivers are known for rash driving and violating traffic rules. It is common to see motorcyclists and rickshaw drivers breaking traffic signals and driving on the wrong side of the road.

The traffic police system needs to be enhanced. Police should crack down on traffic violations and impose fines on those who do not abide; this is the only solution to encourage people to follow the rules by restoring the laws.
